STEP 1 - BYO Modem Pre-requisites
Confirm your BYO modem:
- If the modem is from another ISP, the configuration settings are not locked to the previous network
- Is compatible with the NBN service at the required premises article
- Is connected properly by following this supporting article
before continuing.
STEP 2 - Restart/Reset Your Modem
When properly connected, most modems will auto-detect the required settings and automatically connect for you. If your modem does not go online after 5-10 minutes, try the following.
Turn the modem off for 2 minutes then turn it back on again. Wait 5-10 minutes for the modem to connect.
If the modem still does not connect, try factory resetting the modem as per the manufacturer's instructions. Usually, there will be a small recessed "reset" button in the back of the modem. With the modem powered on, hold this button in for 10-15 seconds then release it. (Note that custom settings will need to be re-applied). Wait 5-10 minutes for the modem to connect.
- A reset will remove any changes you have made to the settings on your modem, including Wi-Fi password changes.
- If you are using a mobile phone, it's always best to switch to 4g before the reset to avoid any service disruptions.
If your modem still cannot connect, you may need to manually configure the connection settings.

Log into your modem as per the manufacturer instructions, look for "Automatic Setup", "Setup Wizard" or "Internet Options" and enter the below information based on your NBN connection type.
